Altered Bottle Swap!

This will be January's Swap!
It is a one-for-one swap! You will create one bottle and mail it to your partner. You will receive one bottle back. You may use any size bottle and any theme. You may solder your bottle or not. The bottle needs to have some sort of creative topper, some design on the outside of the bottle, quality fitting of something you would give or display in your home!
Swap sign ups will begin today Christmas Eve and last until New Years Eve. I will end sign ups at that time (20 will be the maximum!) Your partner's name and information will be sent to you by January 2nd. You will have until January 24 to mail out your bottle! It needs to be postmarked by the 24th so it will arrive before February!
If you would like to participate~ please send me your name/physical address that you would like your buddy to send your bottle to/ email address/ phone #/ blog address if you have one/ colors that you would love incorporated into your bottle~ though it is always fun to have others just create for you without limiting their color selections & creativity!!
Thanks for playing along! I look forward to the fun!

My Creative Endeavors for 2011!

My creative endeavors for 2011 are filling my mind! I really want to get my online store up and going.. it's almost there! I also want to take time each and every day to create! I am going to try to achieve this with a daily art journal similiar to Shimell's Christmas project! We will see how well I do! I will post about my adventures in daily creating/journaling!
My big online adventure is a monthly Swap! I will be hosting a monthly swap! You can participate each month (if the swap isn't full!) or just occassionally when the swap fits your fancy! Some months the swap will be one for one and other months the swap will be a group swap where you will create a multiple # of items. I will set number limits on the group swaps! I hope lots of my creative friends will want to play along!! The swaps will be high end swaps~ pull out your good "stuff" and create at a quality that you expect to receive and would want to display in your home!!
The big endeavor that I have had in the works for over 3 years hopefully will play out this year~ My Covered In Glitter weekend Art fun! The theme is set, the location is almost set ( I meet with them next week), the date is set (but I keep changing it :() I have my 2 teachers in mind~ I just need to contact them and see how things get going!!! This is big on my Dream Board!!! Hopefully it will work out like I want it to and 25 ladies will join me for a fun filled Creative weekend in Cowtown!
I have also challenged myself to actually post regularly on my blog!!! Which I really want to do! We will see.. This thing called "Life!" just keeps me super busy!!
Merry Christmas everyone on this Eve of Christmas Eve!!

I would love to see your girl at ART camp this summer. These are just a few reasons why I think ART is important to children....
Art stimulates both sides of the brain.
The kids need a place to express themselves.
Art promotes self esteem.
Art nourishes the human soul. One feels good doing it!
Art is valuable all by itself.

Amazing Weekend!

I had the absolute most AMAZING weekend!!! I'm so behind on posting for the Girls Art Camp (I did get my flyer postcards in the mail today!! Very exciting! I plan to drop them off at a few boutiques in town tomorrow!)Even though I'm behind I'm going to skip it for now and tell about the amazing weekend!!
On Friday night~ we went to the Ranger game! We enjoyed grazing throughout the game! The Rangers beat the Cubs! Fireworks were after the game!
Saturday~ family/work picnic~ very, very windy!
Saturday evening!!! The most amazing evening ever! The teachers from Paper Cowgirl met at Ann-Denise's home (lovely home!) ((I only thought I had a lot of apothocary jars!)) She had decorated so cute for the get together! The food was amazing! The gifts precious~ she made each teacher a decorated doll with a sash that reads "Paper Cowgirl Instructor 2010. We also received a yard stick tied with tulle~ because "Your help was unmeasurable!" Very creative! She has an amazing body form in her living room to hang vintage clothing on!! Love it! The ladies were just great! We chatted about past Paper Cowgirl events, other events they have attended, Silver Bella and our own crafting experiences! It is such an experience to sit around and chat with ladies that have the same interests as you and really "get you!" I love crafting with my monthly ladies group~ but I know sometimes they just don't "GET Me!" These ladies are on the save "ARTSY" wave length! Mom went with me to help~ she loved it too!! We got to know Cindy "Paper Cowgirl Guru" a bit better~ she is hysterical! I know she will make Paper Cowgirl a wonderful experience~ she is paying attention to every little detail! Ann-Denise~ a truly amazing artist! We got an up close and personal look at her PC project!! WOW! I was excited but know I'm estatic!! They are the most wonderful muslin vintage boots! She also shared stories of teaching in New Jersey~ she taught with Jenny of Everyday is a Holiday!! I was very impressed! I had to keep shutting my mouth so my tongue wouldn't hang out! Angela was great~ she creates wonderful beaded jewelry! She is also very funny! Sandra was another amazing lady! She is another true artist! I was looking at her project for PC~ amazing!!! I loved chatting with her and hearing her decorating stories! It was truly an amazing night!
Sunday~ I had a booth at a local shop's Grand Opening! I had created lots of new jewelry for the show! It was an interesting afternoon!
All in all a wonderful art filled weekend!
I will post pictures soon~ hopefully! I have ordered a portable photo shooting box! I'm hoping my pictures will turn out better for my jewelry and scrap/altered art pictures!
If you lasted through this very long, long post!
Happy Creating and Talk to you soon!!

Weekend fun!

((Pictures will follow soon!))
We spent the weekend in the "almost" Hill country! Lake Whitney!! They were having a county wide rummage sale! I had never seen nor heard of such a thing! Almost every house in the county had a yard sale going on! I found some amazing antique items to alter or use in my classes and booths! Silver platters for $1.00~~ amazing!!
I have been on the ultimate search for box springs for a project!! We found my box springs~ I was wanting about 12! I have 66 springs :) I can create for days! Tommy and Stephanie took the box springs apart for me~ with Lexi's help! It was quite the chore... David and I would have never accomplished the task :)
I will post pictures of some of my fun finds soon!
I'm also working on getting pictures up for my Spring/Summer Girls Art Camp!
I'm perpetually behind schedule!! It doesn't help that we shop all day Saturday every weekend and I can't get everything done on Sunday!
This Saturday we are going to Antique Alley in Cleburne. I can't wait! 25 miles of antique and vendor fun... A smaller version of Round Top!
Pictures will post soon!

Tweet.. Tweet.. Paper Cowgirl Class

Come fly with me.. Altered bird trinket box and domino necklace!
Come fly with me…. So cute and petite! This little altered bird trinket box is home to a shiny, glitzy altered bird! The bird is nesting atop two altered boxes covered in a variety of vintage & colored paper, vintage sewing pattern scraps and crepe paper.
Each person will start with the same resin bird….
And create a unique….
One of a kind… piece of art….
You will create the wings with grunge paper (a great flexible & fun paper.) You will embellish your sweet bird with faux pearls, a petite crown, crepe paper and vintage German glass glitter, white glitter and Stickles.
You’ll have Tons of papers to choose from….
You can’t leave with an empty trinket box…. So you will then create an altered vintage domino necklace. I will have an assortment of bird images to decorate your vintage domino with. I will have an assortment of images in black and white with some wonderful new Copic markers out to design a one of a kind pendant. You will choose a ribbon necklace to hang your newly created wearable work of art! Your trinket box will be the perfect place to store your creation.
My class comes with all the needed supplies (just bring your basic toolkit.) This is a class for all levels. If you’ve never worked with grunge paper~ now is the time to begin! Your art will be personalized to your personality!
Go to the Paper Cowgirl website to register for this fun class!! Hope to see you in June!

We will also have an opening class with THE TERESA MCFAYDEN!!!! I love her work! I have taken many of her online classes!

I was sifting through my scrap closet this evening and came across the Tim Holtz grunge paper that I purchased to make leaves with~~ as I was sitting here looking at my project for Paper Cowgirl~~ I realized the sweet little bird really needed some new "Grunge" wings!! Bonus vintage domino for altered bird necklace for Paper Cowgirl!

Bonus project for Altered Bird Trinket Box for Paper Cowgirl!

You can't leave with an empty altered trinket box..... so you will create an altered vintage bird domino neclace.

I will have a variety of cream, butterscotch and black dominoes to choose from!

I will also have an array of bird images to choose from. The one in my example was a black and white image that I used copiac markers to enhance with! I will have a few markers on hand if you want to try your hand at enhancing the images~ it really is a fun technique!

You can hang your newly created necklace from a variety of ribbon necklaces or small faux pearls.

Spring Break and Easter decorations!

Spring Break has been wonderful! A very low key time at home this year!

We began the break by visiting the Funky Finds Art Show at Will Rogers~ we found some great finds!! I loved the Altered Muse booth!

If you visited and picked up a book~ check out the add for Paper Cowgirl!!

Registration will begin this week for Paper Cowgirl~ so keep your eyes open!

We also spent the day in McKinney enjoying their quaint shops~ found one that I love for altered items! Stopped by some great little antique stores. It was a fun 4 generation day of shopping!

Lexi and I had girls day yesterday with shopping, a facial for Lex and ended the night Glimmer Misting the night away with Heidi Swapp on her Wednesday night Webcast!! So much fun!

Here is my house (above~ a few of the decorations) Either me or the computer doesn't want to post the way I want it to post! I really wanted my post at the top and pictures below~ it didn't work! Now that the Easter is upon us and I've put out the decorations! We are so ready for the Easter Bunny to stop by!
